Kung-fu is a Chinese term referring to any study, learning, or practice that requires patience, energy, and time to complete, often used in the West to refer toChinese martial arts. It is only in the late twentieth century, that this term was used in relation to Chinese martial arts by the Chinese community.

Shifu Alexander Fernandes born in 1968 was trained in Chinese martial arts Hua Chuan kung fu Wu Shu under Mr. Lazarus Mascarenhas since he was 14 years old. Well skilled and qualified in the art he draws his expertise from Beijing ( China ) in all kinds of shadow boxing especially in simplified Tai-Chi Chuan and traditional martial arts.
He has won the ‘simplified Tai-Chi Chuan championship’ held at Beijing University in 2006. He bagged the first place in 24 Tai-Chi forms and second place in 42 Tai-Chi forms. He also stood first in 42 Tai-Chi Jian ( sword event ).
He was trained under Shifu Liu Wei world no. 1 practitioner in wu style shadow boxing. He completed his Tai-Chi training under world champion Lau-Shu Wang Ru , champion of 1997. His qualification extends in Chi Kung ( Qi Gong ) and push hand ( Tui-Shou ) by grand master Su lang.
He was instrumental in conducting ‘ the first wu shu judges seminar’ in Orissa in 1994 for wu shu association of India. He has also conducted the first district and state level Chinese martial arts tournament at Andheri in 1989 and 1991 for universal martial arts research centre ( UMARC ).
Shifu Alexander Fernandes has been instrumental in spreading the art of Hua Chuan Kungfu, Wu Shu and Tai Chi at various institutes for the last 30 years and has earned imposing repute at national and international level.
