Derived from the Sanskrit word yuj, Yoga means union of the individual consciousness or soul with the Universal Consciousness or Spirit. Yoga is a 5000 year old Indian body of knowledge. Though many think of yoga only as a physical exercise where people twist, turn, stretch, and breathe in the most complex ways, these are actually only the most superficial aspect of this profound science of unfolding the infinite potentials of the human mind and soul.

Faculty: Uttara Dhanjal

Uttara Dhanjal – Holds a graduation & post graduation degree in Home Science with Dietetics as the major. She worked over a decade as Chief Dietitian with Dr. Anjali Mukerjee, ICICI Prudential, eminent doctors, health clubs, etc.

Uttara holds a yoga teachers training certificate i.e. 900hours of training from the yoga institute, Santacruz east. She takes a holistic approach to provide a treatment to any kind of an ailment; whether it is through diet or yoga. She gives prime importance to understand the body type of an individual, lifestyle pattern, medical history & other parameters before prescribing a food plan or asanas.
Uttara specializes in providing assistance to patients with wide variety of health problems like diabetes, cardiac cases, cancer, gastric issues, hormonal issues, immunity building, not forgetting weight issues.
She is also associated with the Reliance group as a Wellness provider, where a variety of workshops are conducted for the wellbeing of employees. These wellness workshops not only talks of the handy dietary tips but also suggests workplace yoga stretches & pranayams which can easily be accomplished.
The style of yoga is simple, traditional also called ashtanga yoga or raj yoga. It comprises of asanas & pranayams. In addition some ‘gharelu’ props are used to make things more simple eg use of chair for twisting, etc. In her words, “Yoga is all about the union of body & mind, hence the session should be such that it uplifts you, improves blood circulation, posture correction, mental stability, improves focus & concentration along with reducing your medical problems.”
